Neriage (the lid technique) is done by laminating different coloured clays together and throwing them on the wheel to create a swirling spiralling pattern.
Remi Fontaine is amongst France's leading ceramicists. Remi started his creative journey in 1991. After training at the CNIFOP, he completed his training with Jean Cacheleux (Meilleur Ouvrier de France). 30+ years later he is deserved of the title Master craftsman whose expertise encompasses turning stoneware, earthenware, porcelain and plaster.
He runs his own production workshop, presented at Maison and Objets for several years running, acted as a ceramic consultant and object designer for various foreign governments and is a Professor of turning and modelling at Arts et Techniques Ceramiques. A true modern Master.
